Lata Mangeshkar says she does not want to hear Atif Aslam’s version of Chalte Chalte What's Happening Now!

Composed by Ghulam Mohammed, written by Kaifi Azmi and sung by Lata Mangeshkar; the evergreen song Chalte Chalte from Pakeezah is still fresh in everyone’s heart.

Now that there has been a remix made on it, sung by Atif Aslam and written by Tanishk Bagchi, Lata Mangeshkar  voiced her grief because of it.

When the Indian media asked for her thoughts on the song, she stated that she does not want to hear it. “This trend of remixing old songs saddens me. Where is the creativity in simply lifting acknowledged, beloved classics and shuffling the notes around? I’ve even heard that the lyrics are changed in the remixes. By whose consent?” she added.

“The original poets and composers wrote what they had to. Nobody has the right to tamper with the creativity of these great composers and lyricists,” Lata said.

Atif Aslam hasn’t responded yet to Lata’s remarks.  In the meantime, check out the remix version of Chalte Chalte sung by our very own.
