Meet Miss Pakistan- Diya Ali Let's Get Vocal

Diya turned out to be exactly how we imagined; confident, talkative and instantly made herself at home in our office.  Bursting with energy, she had adorned a pair of bell bottoms, with high summer wedges and a black winter blazer. She greeted everyone with a bright smile, tossing her bleached highlighted strands of hair, as if already a superstar. It’s safe to say, she has become one or is perfectly playing the part!

Who is Diya Ali?
Diya is a simple girl, an actor, model and a host.

How did it all start?
It’s been two years that I am in this field. I started my acting carrier in 2015 which started out of nowhere. When I finished my MBA I started doing a job, during that time period, I was really a photo freak, always uploading pictures. I got a call from a brand who wanted me in their shoot. It was all shocking and confusing and a bit awkward because such things on social media are usually fake. Still, I went with my mother and the moment they saw me; they asked me for the shoot the very next day. I did the shoot and it was like a life changing day.

How did you get selected for Miss Asia pacific?
It was through my contact Sonia who guided me with the selection process and forms. Never in my dreams did I imagine I’d get selected but I did and it was unbelievable for me as I am the first Pakistani girl who actually got nominated to go in Asia pacific. Previously Zeenat Aman and Diya Mirza were the winners from South Asia. Though I still winner and can’t believe it.

What was the response of your family? Did they support you? “”
Initially i had no idea what sort of response to expect from them. But found out my family was super supportive. My father, brother, sister all were happy but I was really confused as I didn’t know how to face everyone abroad, how to face girls who are among the prettiest in the world. Over there it felt like I was in heaven, surrounded by beautiful well groomed faces. It was an amazing experience.

Any funny incident that you won’t be able to forget?
Yes, when I got selected I was so surprised I didn’t tell anyone for 2 whole days! I kept asking them for reassurance if it was really me who got selected!

Another thing that is possibly the most funniest is, at the Abu Dhabi airport where I had a stay of four hours, I was so excited that I started walking backwards on the escalator without realizing it! People were so surprised and were giving me funny looks, some even laughed. It was so embarrassing! But definitely a funny memory.

Did you get criticized for wearing revealing clothes?
People comment at times but I remain focused and confident. I am also aware that everything is not everyone’s cup a cup of tea so I can’t be everyone’s favorite.

Did our personal relation get affected because of joining the industry?
Nothing got affected as I am not married nor in any relationship so I want to give best in this field. I’ve always been a good mamas girl who was never into boys.

You didn’t get selected in the Miss Veet Pakistan audition. What do you have to say about that?
I just want to say that it is our own national competition and I don’t know what their criteria is. According to their terms and conditions i wasn’t suitable and it didn’t affect me as I am working on international level now. Life gives you hardships so it’s fine.
