Pakistan Sunsilk Fashion Week ‘15 – DAY 2

The 8^th PFDC event, Pakistan Sunsilk Fashion Week Lahore, day two summed up to be the first day of the afternoon High street fashion show featuring Generation, Shirin Hassan, Rayya Gillani and Beech Tree while the designers who showcased for the Pret category were MUSE, Saira Shakira, Nida Azwer Atelier, Teena by Hina Butt and Zara Shahjahan. Below are the details of what these amazing designers exhibited yesterday.

High Street Fashion shows

The High street fashion segment on Day two of the PFDC Pakistan Sunsilk Fashion Week was opened by one of the most apparel friendly Pakistani high street brand Generation with its Spring/Summer’15 collection titled “I See You” which was inspired by the notion of that thin line between animals and human beings, separating them from each other. The fabric used was cotton, denim, silk, mesh and organza while the colour palette comprised of indigo, hues and what every other designer played with, “WHITE”. The collection seemed to be for both working women & home makers as it featured a “Be at Leisure” kind of a silhouette. To make the inspiration behind the whole collection count, embellishments were used with the help of thread, cutwork, mukaish, applique and a wide range of prints to form animal skin and broken skin of sedimentary rocks.

Generation was followed by Shirin Hassan’s collection “Rock N Rolla” which was inspired by an army of textures and colours. The collection presented western cuts, full skirts, cropped tops and pants. Vibrant colours were used. Block printing was what gave the collection a tinge of the East.

After the rocking “Rock N Rolla” Rayya Gillani made her debut at the PFDC Pakistan Sunsilk Fashion Week with her high street collection “Vintage Luxury”. It was inspired by the magnificent roundabout of Victorian era. The collection comprised of a variety of fabric including organza, lace, silk and nets while the colour palette consisted of black, gold, and grey with shades of pink and purple. It displayed graphic prints, floral prints, high-waist skirts, knee length jackets, straight pants etc.

The High street fashion segment was concluded by Beech Tree who promoted their Spring/Summer’15 collection titled “Porcelain Dreams” which was inspired by the classic eastern & oriental motifs. Blues, whites and gold were the colours on which the whole collection was based. Trends followed were tunics, jackets and kimonos paired with cigarette pans. Floral and geometric patterns were everywhere to be seen enhanced by embellishment using sequins, beadwork and mukaish. Loved the entire collection – Very Trendy!

Designer Showcases

MUSE: The afternoon high street fashion show was followed by the Pret-o-porter shows which were opened by the designer flag MUSE who displayed their collection “Discipline and Drama” which was inspired by the swinging moods of the “MUSE woman”. The colour palette comprised of black, white, gold and silver which was set in fabrics of organza, dupion and gazar. The collection showcased dresses, flared pants, pleated skirts, cropped tops with coats which were further enhanced by the metal belts with embellishment of beads and sequins. All of it defined the title of the collection oh-so-perfectly.

Saira Shakira: Saira Shakira showcased their collection “Eclectic Retro” which was inspired by the American painter Georgia O’Keeffe. The fabrics used were organza, cotton, silks and chicken. High hems, A-lined silhouettes, over-sized looks were very much focused while the colour palette comprised of white, bright hues and camouflage. Loved that floral touch!

Nida Azwer Atelier: Saira Shakira was followed by Nida Awer Atelier who presented “The Iznik Collection” which was inspired by Iznik and Persian ceramic patterns. Floral and geometrical patterns were everywhere to be seen. Animal motifs enhanced the look of the outfits even more. The fabrics used were silks, cotton and net which were embellished with thread work, crystals and zardozi. Key trends followed were jackets, pants and tops with moving silhouettes in shades of blue and teal with extracts of saffron.

Teena by Hina Butt: Teena by Hina Butt presented her collection “Suzandozi” which focused on colourful embroidery, cleans cuts, crop tops, volume gowns, printed pants (straight), embroidered kurtas, skirts and digital printed dresses which was all inspired by Suzani (a textile technique from Uzbekistan). Loved how she played with all the colours. She made the ramp look beautiful with her collection.

Zara Shahjahan: the Finale of day two was showcased by Zara Shahjahan with her collection “New Vintage” which was inspired by the characters and emotion that illustrate the modern woman. The collection featured fresh colour palette of maroons pinks, blues and pistachio greens on silks and karandi. Embellishments were done using crystals and semi-precious stones. The closing of the day was definitely fascinating as Zara let it be known that the waistcoat is not the male domain anymore!
